Are dogs allowed on your sailing yachts?

Well-behaved small dogs are allowed in the cockpit area of the boat at your own risk. Please note that we don’t carry safety equipment specifically for dogs.

 

Are there any age limits for going on your hire boats?

We don’t have strict age limits, but we may tailor our trips to suit the abilities of your group.

 

Is there a toilet onboard if we charter your yachts?

Yes, there is a marine toilet onboard for your convenience.

 

Can we bring our own food and drinks, or do you have a bar onboard and serve food?

We only allow consumption of food and drinks bought from us onboard our boats. However, exceptions can be made by arrangement in certain circumstances.

 

Where can we go on Lake Windermere?

On the day of your booking, your skipper will discuss options with you, and you can help choose the route plan.

 

Are we allowed to swim from your boats anywhere on Windermere Lake?

We can anchor in a safe area if you’d like to swim from the boat. Conditions need to be suitable on the day.

 

Can we go ashore anywhere around Windermere Lake?

There are some options for going ashore around the lake. However, on busy days, finding suitable boat spaces can be challenging.

 

Can we be picked up and dropped off at different places?

Yes, several establishments on the lake allow us to arrange pick-up or drop-off.

 

Can your boats accommodate people with mobility issues?

If anyone in your group has mobility issues, please contact us to discuss how we can assist.

 

Is there a car park near your boat hire base?

Yes, there is a pay-and-display car park adjacent to our offices at the Lake District Boat Club. We recommend arriving in plenty of time, especially on busy days.

 

Can we play music on your boats?

Absolutely! You can stream your own music using our onboard Bluetooth speakers.

 

What group sizes can you cater for?

Each of our boats can accommodate up to 10 passengers using the engine only or 8 passengers if you want to sail. The best sailing experiences are with groups of up to 6 per boat. For larger groups, consider booking 2 boats directly with us.

 

Do we need to be able to sail to book with you?

No sailing or boating skills are necessary to enjoy our trips. However, you’re encouraged to get involved under our instruction if you’d like.

 

Is there weather protection on your boats?

Yes, there’s an inside cabin, and we can also set up partial cover for the outside area.

 

Can we get involved with the sailing or driving of the yachts?

Certainly! You’re welcome to participate as much as you’d like, whether you have sailing skills or not. Our crew will supervise.

 

What sort of food and drinks do you offer?

We offer a variety of food options, including charcuterie platters, afternoon teas, and cream teas (by advanced arrangement). Our licensed bar onboard serves prosecco, wine, beer, pre-mixed drinks, soft drinks, and even tea and coffee.
